Things to Do in the Upstate

Both Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee offer numerous options for boating, swimming, skiing, and fishing. The local marinas and public boat ramps offer quick access to the big open waters of Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee.

Devils Fork State Park

Devils Fork State Park is the only public access to Lake Jocassee. Lakefront camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, and boating are among the favorite activities to enjoy on Lake Jocassee.

Lake Keowee is a popular fishing area. With thousands of acres of pristine water and hundreds of miles of shoreline, the lake provides a number of species, including rainbow and brown trout; small, large and white bass, black crappie, bluegill and threadfin shad.

Lake Jocassee’s 75 miles of shoreline and 7,565 acres of water have been a source of energy and recreation in northwestern South Carolina. Jocassee is the only lake in South Carolina offering both trophy trout and smallmouth bass. The deep, crystal clear water provides an excellent habitat for many species of fish, including brown trout, rainbow trout, white bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, bluegill and black crappie.

Lake Hartwell Martin Creek Landing, Twelve Mile Park and Twin Lakes in Clemson Lake Hartwell offers many fishing possiblities for the devoted fisherman. The lake has a large number of species including largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill bream, hybrid bass, walleyed pike, white and striped bass, and chain pickerel.

You can find some great trails in the Upstate just minutes away from Lake Keowee. You will find everything from short casual trails to long strenuous trails. We are in close proximity to many state parks: Devils Fork, Oconee, Keowee Toxaway, Table Rock, Caesar’s Head, and Jones Gap State Park. Isaqueena Lake

Isaqueena Lake and Dam Trail in Clemson All roads and trails within the park are open to hikers, bicyclist, horseback riders, and vehicles. These trails are located on SC Highway 133 near the Clemson University Experimental forest. (864) 656-7502

Lawrence Trail in Clemson This trail is 2.2 miles long and is part of the Clemson University Experimental program located at the Anne Springs Close Greenway on the Santee Cooper property.

Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway (SC Hwy. 11) This 130 mile road was once known as “Keowee Path” or “Cherokee Path” by the Cherokee, English, and French fur traders. Scenic Highway 11 allows for easy access to Keowee Toxaway State Natural Area, Eastatoe Falls, Table Rock State Park and Caesar’s Head State Park
